Why India?

What Makes India Unmissable

India is not a single destination — it's a continent masquerading as a country. Every region speaks a different language, cooks different food, and holds centuries of distinct history.

For American and British visitors, India offers extraordinary value. Your dollar or pound stretches remarkably far — world-class heritage hotels cost a fraction of European equivalents, and the food is genuinely extraordinary at every price point.

The country rewards travellers who prepare well. With the right itinerary and local support, India becomes one of the most transformative journeys of your life. Without preparation, it can be overwhelming. That's exactly where we come in.

💧
Only Drink Bottled or Filtered Water
Tap water is not safe for foreign visitors. Carry a reusable bottle with a filter, or buy sealed bottled water. This applies to ice and salads too — reputable restaurants will be fine, but be careful at roadside stalls.
👗
Dress Modestly at Religious Sites
Cover shoulders and knees when visiting temples, mosques, and gurdwaras. Many sites provide wraps at the entrance. Remove shoes before entering — always. Showing respect here goes a very long way.
📱
Get a Local SIM Card at the Airport
Airtel and Jio offer affordable data-heavy SIM cards at major international airports. A local number is invaluable — for navigation, auto-rickshaw apps (Ola/Uber), and staying in touch with your guide.
🚕
Use Ola/Uber — Never Haggle with Taxis
App-based taxis eliminate price negotiation entirely. In cities without apps, ask your hotel to arrange a car. Negotiating at the roadside wastes time and rarely ends well for first-time visitors.

Most Western visitors can obtain an Indian e-Visa online before travel — a straightforward process that takes 3–5 business days.

🇺🇸
USA Citizens
e-Visa Required
Apply online at indianvisaonline.gov.in. Tourist e-Visa allows stays up to 90 days. Available as 30-day, 1-year, or 5-year multiple-entry. Approval usually within 72 hours.
🇬🇧
UK Citizens
e-Visa Required
Same e-Visa process as USA citizens. Apply online, receive approval by email, present at immigration on arrival. 1-year and 5-year multiple-entry options available.
🇨🇦
Canadian Citizens
e-Visa Required
Canadian passport holders also qualify for e-Visa. Same process — apply online before departure. We recommend applying at least 2 weeks ahead to avoid any delays.
🌍
Other Nationalities
Check Required
Requirements vary by nationality. Contact us and we'll confirm your exact requirements — some nationalities need a regular visa from the Indian Embassy instead of e-Visa.

✈️
Flying from the USA
New York (JFK) to Delhi (DEL): ~14 hours direct or 16–18 hours with one stop. Non-stop options include Air India, Air Canada, and United. From the West Coast (LA/SFO), flights to Mumbai or Delhi run 18–22 hours with connections. Book 8–12 weeks ahead for best fares ($650–1,100 round trip from East Coast).
🏙️
Best Arrival Cities
Delhi (Indira Gandhi International) is the best entry point for Golden Triangle and North India tours. Mumbai for West India and Rajasthan. Kochi (Cochin) for Kerala. All have good international connections — we'll recommend the best arrival city for your specific itinerary.
🚆
Getting Around India
India's rail network is extraordinary — fast trains connect major cities efficiently. Internal flights are inexpensive (Delhi to Kochi: $40–80). For Rajasthan and rural routes, a private car with driver is the most comfortable and time-efficient option — we include this in all our packages.
